Finding God
The main theme of the Bible is God’s love for you and all people. This love was shown when Jesus Christ, the Son of God, came into the world as a human being, lived a sinless life, died on the cross, and rose from the dead. Because Christ died, your sins can be forgiven, and because He rose from the dead you can have eternal life. You can know for sure what will become of you after you die. This gift of forgiveness and eternal life cannot be yours unless you willingly accept it. God requires an individual response from you. The following verses from the Bible show God’s part and yours in this process:
1. God loves you and wants a relationship with you. John 3:16 For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. Colossians 1:16 For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities of powers. All things were created through Him and for Him.
2. Your sin keeps you from God. Romans 3:23 For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God. Ephesians 2:8-9 For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God. not of works lest anyone should boast.
3. Jesus Christ died and rose again to forgive your sins and to restore your relationship with God. I Peter 3:18 For Christ also suffered once for sins, the just for the unjust, that He might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive by the Spirit. Romans 5:8 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.
4. You must accept Jesus to be your Lord and Savior. John 1:12 But as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His name. If you would like to receive Jesus Christ right now, you need to:
A sample Prayer: I know that I am a sinner and need your forgiveness. I believe that Jesus Christ died for my sins. I want to turn from my sins. I invite Jesus Christ to come into my heart and life as my personal Savior and Lord of my life. In Jesus’ name, Amen. Romans 10:13 For whoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. If you sincerely prayed that prayer – Congratulations! This is just the beginning of a wonderful new life in Christ.
